D70 w. Nikon 80-400VR @400mm ISO 400 1/500sec f5.6 Tripod & Hide

Another one from my garden bird session on Sunday. Getting happier with backgrounds and sharpness. Still a 50% crop however - need to work on framing and not rely so much on PS cropping, etc. Criticism and advice, as ever, welcome.

a good clean shot malcolm. a common subject but one of the best shots i've seen of it. if you could get a full frame job you're onto a winner.

Well crafted, next thing to improve on is the background, I'd get them perching somewhere where the backgound is complementary.

Nice sharp shot, a perch at an angle mayhelp to create more interest. If it is in you own garden you can always make your own BG and hang it up behind the perch.

A very nice shot of a beautiful bird.Looks like you've chosen a bird in great condition.
Colours look excellent, bright and vibrant and accurate.
I quite like the perch as it's very neutral in colour and helps concentrate the viewers eye on the main subject.
I like the alert pose and the angle of the bird relative to the camera, nice catchlight too.
Look forward to more from your set-up. :toast:

Nice, simple and clean, with a good pose, not 100% convinced on the perch but with a Garden set up you can experiment to get it right, next year I must get a feeding station up and running
