Counterpoint to ESS post
This is a completely different area outside the Red Rock Canyon Park Boundry but in the same Geologic formation, with someone in a little better physical shape when the weather cools it might be worth exploring although was done on a 90+ day. Just before you get the to grossest sign on HWY 14, whoever thought pictures of elephant seals basking with suntan oil was hilarious should be shot. Old Mexico had adobe walls for good reasons. The ESS post was from the parking lot everyone stops in just inside the park on 14. Olympus E-500 Iso 100 f11 1/300. I'll Post the Ess shot for comparison. Is a pretty straight forward shot.

ESS post, title was Location Shot, who knows how many old B&W westerns were shot right in front of these bluffs.

Paul, I prefer the B&W image. There's something about the spread of tonal values that appeals to me. The color image is a tad harsh looking to me, but it is still interesting and gives a feel for a hot desert day.

Paul, one can sure dig back on our old memory banks and recall seeing this area as a back drop to some of the westerns from years past. The B&W is an excellent take on this locale in the Red Rock area.
