It has been a great year for butterflies particularly the Monarch. Maybe it's because I let a large number of milkweed plants grow on the farm this year. They have virtually taken over my garden. I've had lots of Monarchs in the fields and now with the Canada Goldenrod blooming they are enjoying these flowers on a daily basis. In a couple of weeks they will be heading for their winter home in Mexico.

I was about to tell you to enjoy your trip, then I read your post. I haven't seen many Monarchs down here this year. I like the creamy background in this shot.
Hey, like the shot. The color and BG is great. We have had decent year with Monarch but they have been hard to catch in nice comp. I thought you were headed South to shoot as well.

Well done and I look forward to when they pass through Texas in the October timeframe.

Many Monarchs are now passing through this area of MI. Yesterday I saw quite a few coming across Lake MI and settling on the sandy beach for a few moments.
Nice shot, Phil..thanks for sharing :)

I was going to wish you happy trails as well. Nice shot. I like the subdued colors of the undersides of the wings, I think the tops would have been to bright with BG and milkweed blooms.
