Didnt want to compete with Morris' awesome series from Goliath--so i went to Windy Ridge instead. My favorite shot from this area has been Grant C's version in fog. No fog for me, but i knew id get some nice morning clouds after the rain (and snow) the night before. Real fun drive up there too in my low clearance car Here's Ancient and more ancient: pine and Orion, yesterday half hour before sunrise.

#3 Thunderstorm builds to the west--it started pouring several minutes later.

10) The dead ones have the most character! Thats all--one more at ESS!
What an impressive body of work, and all in one morning!
Shot in true neurotic mode. And you know how I like that mode.
Such a diverse group of shots from the same place, too. Outstanding work, Stan!

Great series, Stan. Hard to pick a favorite, but #4 really is really cool! I am impressed you did this in your low clearance vehicle!
they're all great! #4 is my favorite, it reminds me of a gator with it's mouth open.

I had never heard of this place 'til you and Morris posted images from here.
As usual, you posted the best at ES&S, but #2 is real close to it as far as choosing a favorite.

I'm liking #4 and #8 and the B&Ws are cool too! I gotta say, though, the shot by that Grant C fellow you speak of is awful!

Stan, this might be the best series from Windy Ridge I've seen! The b&w stuff is exceptional. On that Antero Reservoir shot I could almost make the case that those craggy peaks on the righthand skyline are Crestone Needle (left) and Crestone Peak. Whaddya think?
Thanks guys--i have a few more B&Ws i might post at some point that i think are stronger.
I think you're right about the peaks Todd--theyre in the right place for them,
