Between July 7th and August 8th I was in Australia where my daughter resides with her husband and two boys. My time to shoot was limited but I managed a few.
This is Dee Why Beach, northeast of Sydney on the Tasman Sea after sunset.

A "platoon" of seagulls had settled in for the night when I came by. They were nice enough to remain still for a fairly long exposure.

I think the birds were taking in the moonrise over the Tasman Sea.

This is a lovely little flower I have yet to identify. I found this one near Cairns.

We visited a really nice game preserve where I had a chance photograph lots of birds. The detail in this male peacock's feathers struck me as a lovely, natural abstract.

Please indulge me on this one - hardly a nature photograph. Wait a minute! There IS water in there, eh. Anyway, I love the Sydney Harbor Bridge which is absolutely stunning at night. If you ever go to Australia, and I would urge it, be sure to shoot the Opera House, Circular Quay, the Sydney skyline and the Harbor Bridge at night.
Thanks for looking. It is good to be home. I hope to be a more active poster in the coming weeks.

The only one I really have anything negative to say anything about is that first one, with its godawful halos and heavy-handed shadow/highlight-looking manipulation. I'd rework that one, but the others, especially that Stepford seagulls shot, are really, really nice.

Rod, like Todd, I am mot over joyed about the first shot, but the others are excellent images for my tatses. Very hard to choose a favorite, but love the mood of the third one.
Like those before me, I'm not a big fan of #1 for the processing, but man is that seagull shot ever great! And the moonrise! The other shots are well done, too, but those really grab me.

I agree with the above about the processing in #1, but I really like the Gulls in #2 and the Flower macro!. I've been to Sydney once, and I totally agree about the Bridge, opera House and Quays - beautiful city!.

Nice diverse set of images! Especially like the evening shots (incl. the bridge).
