This is the waterfall at which I "cut my photographic teeth." I still remember taking my first photographs of this waterfall back in high school (and how disappointed I was with the results). It pleases me greatly to have finally developed the skills necessary to do this place justice

Nicely captured Taylor. The only little nit I se is the little green sprouts coming from the rock just above and to the left of the lower splash rocks. Not sure if that would be a nit to pick in a large wall decor display, but as a small screen display it just draws my eye. Congrats on the teeth coming through.

Very nice photo. Was this in southern Illinois? I keep telling myself to go farther than Springfield and see what is in the south. Thanks for sharing.

John, yes - it's worth the trip down here, I think. There are a lot of gems down here that are not photographed very often. Don't expect to see the falls running like this, though.. this was taken after a big rain. It's been very dry lately so it's probably trickling now.

Excellent shot Taylor. I too keep telling myself I need to get down to the Shawnee, and Cache River area to do some shooting. Maybe this fall I'll get away for a few days.

11 repliesHere is one more from Burden Falls. This is the upper cascade, a little ways up from the main fall.
With the shape of the rock in the foreground I think going for a square crop around it might really work well.
Nicely done, Taylor..looks like a great place to capture many compositions!
