So, I pulled out my old Colorado Atlas and Gazetteer today to look up a spot, and got to thinking it's about time for a new one. I've had this trusty one for at least 7 years, and you can tell by looking at it. Love that thing!
I've seen the Colorado Road & Recreation Atlas version to, and was just wondering what everyone else liked best? Other options I don't know about? Thanks in advance!

I actually saw somebody's newer Colorado Atlas and Gazetteer recently and was impressed with the updated look. Since I've used my version for so long (seven years? please! that's beginner territory!), I'd be inclined to check out the new and improved version. And I'm sure it's new and improved specifically because the other publication came along and gave the DeLorme folks some much needed competition.

As a surveyor who creates (and savors) maps, I was never impressed enough with the C.A.G. to buy one.
I had never even heard of the Colorado R & R Atlas 'til now.
After reading the user reviews over at Amazon and looking over a sample page, I believe I'll pick this one up.
New CO Atlas time indeed...thanks for the heads up, Brent!

The Benchmark book is nice but for some reason they separated the "recreation"/land ownership maps from the regular atlas and made them at a smaller scale. Land ownership (BLM,Forest, Private etc.) is much more readable in the Delorme atlas IMO.

Hey Brent-
I havent looked at the Colorado version of the Road and Recreation map but I have the Utah versions of both. My preference is the Benchmark Maps over Delorme. I find them easier to get the information that I need and when it comes to landmarks, the Benchmark maps are generally more detailed. I also like the shaded relief on the Benchmark maps, helps me see the landscape a bit better.
Hope that helps,
andy
