There evidently is an error on 2 flash cards that prevent me from adding copyright and metadata to the RAW files in CS3-Bridge. The File Info field is grayed out as well as the Append Metadata field.
Once I create a Tiff, I'm able to apply metadata and copyright info to the Tiff file, just not the RAW file.
I tried redownloading the files via a card reader and also via a portable harddrive and got the same problem each time.
Is there a way to override this card error and manually edit/add metadata to the RAW file?

It's not a CF problem - it's a Bridge/PS problem. I don't know if the issue has been amended in CS5 (or CS4 for that matter) but when I was using CS3 I had the same problem - you can't add the info into a RAW file - only a formatted file. Generally, it's not an issue because you can't do anything with a RAW file except view it (that is to say it can't be printed or posted online). But, it would have been nice to edit that information when submitting the RAW file to a publication like I did back in April.
Overall, I think it's very minor because if someone needs the RAW file there are a million fields to write that you are the copyright holder and all rights are reserved. Additionally, once YOU take the photo, it is copyrighted.
If anyone has more informaiton, feel free to chime in.

Don - Is this files that reside on the flash card? Or that you've copied to your computer? And I assume you're talking about the "File Info" field in the File menu in Bridge? (Or from right clicking a RAW file in Bridge?) When I do that in CS4, I can change the file info - but this does NOT actually change or add anything to the file.
In general, programs treat RAW files as unchangeable - they always want to preserve the original file from camera. When you modify the file info for a RAW file (or develop it), the changes actually get stored in a separate file - an XMP "sidecar" file. This file is then read in order to display the RAW file or create thumbnails from it. (There is an option to keep it in a Bridge database, but then you can't copy the info around like with the sidecar file.)
I'm not sure if Bridge would treat a file on a card differently from one on your computer - but that's possible. Otherwise, you should be able to modify the File Info. But it will store in an XMP file - so perhaps Bridge can't create the XMP file on the card?
