How many line pairs per millimeter is 120 megapixels?

Horizontally it's 13280 pixels, and 29.2 mm. Assuming two pixels per line pair, that would be about 227 lp/mm. So you'd need an awfully good lens.

In any case, the press release also says they created a 50 MP sensor this size in 2007, and yet they haven't gotten near that in an actual product. (A lot of tech announcements are experiments that may or may not ever find their way to a real product.)

Just for reference, that's a pixel density of ~20MP/cm^2. The highest Canon compact camera density is 50MP/cm^2. So if they were to just build a really big compact camera sensor, you'd get 300 MP! (And probably all the noise, slowness, and lack of dynamic range that entails.)
