Hello all members. I'm new to here, finally glad to find a forum that have all the Northwest photographers over here.

First, let me introduce myself. I'm from Hong Kong, an international student who is now studying in Bellevue Community College. I'm the founder of the photography club over there. I'm a semi-pro photographer in my home country, and trying to be one here. However, my major is Business  Anyway, nice to meet ya all. I'm living in Bellevue, sometimes go to Seattle downtown to take some pictures. As I'm new to Seattle('ve been here for 6 months), I hardly know any spots for taking photos. After some research, I manage to find 2 spots, the Kerry park and the Dr. Rizal Jose Park.

Here is one of the photo taken from the Dr. Rizal Jose Park.

I'm interested in taking Sports, and Nature, especially landscape. However, you have to take protrait photos in Hong Kong in order to be known among people. I'm not keen on that actually.

Anyway, I've browsed many photos from here, and they're really great. The color, the spot, etc! I would like to learn from you guys, hope that I will have a chance to do so. I'd like to join u guys in June heading to Pullman, dunno if I can...

Anyway , nice to meet u all. Here is my album , have a look when u're free.

Hi Vincent, welcome. Very nice shot of Seattle above. The colors and use of light are really good.

Since you are in the Seattle area, there is a group of people up there that are very active in the Puget Sound area. You can find them at: http://www.nwphotographers.net/forum/

They have some people on there that do a lot of bird photography that is some of the best anywhere. They know all the good spots for Eagles, Owls and others up in your area as well as all the scenic and other outdoor shots around that area of the Northwest.

Again, welcome.

Mike

welcome to the NW, Vincent. You'll find there are many photo ops around here. Mountains, beaches, waterfalls, you name it, and its here! Consider getting up to the tulip festival in Mt. Vernon this spring, if you get a chance.

Vincent,
Nice to have you with us. I'm sure you will learn alot from the fine group of people we have on this forum. Your shot is really nice. If I were to shange something, it would be your white balance to a little cooler setting or tone down the red color cast in the city lights. The reds in the lights are a little overpowering. IMHO... I really do like the framing. :wavey:

Vincent,
Welcome! Good to have you in this group...I love this shot. I've been wanting to get to Rizal park for over a year now...I plan to head there in the next couple of months, as this is probably the best vantage point of the city, imho...
There's a spot over to the right more, where you can eliminate those branches altogether...

Mike, thanks for the information, I've just registered in that forum either.
That's really what I'm looking for, so as here.

Kevin, Hi there. I've watched the post at the top and just known about that festival. I do hope I have a chance to go there, as my spring break is going to start 3 days later. However, if only my fd can lend me his car... :frown:

Zack, thank you, Looking forward for your great photos

Erik, Thanks for the opinion. That's what I want. U guys C&C is always welcome.

Rick, I can find that spot actually, but there is another photography using Canon 1Ds MK-II with EF 70-200mm/F2.8 USM IS is taking photos at that spot over several hours. Therefore, I don't wanna bother him and move to another spot ^^

Hi Vincent! Nice image! I agree with Erik in tweaking the White Balance cooler. Do that and this is a keeper!

Welcome to the forum and I look forward to seeing many more images from you here!

Welcome Vincent. You picked the best site for learning I believe. Good luck.

Rick, thx for your opinion too! Originally I do want to make a contrast for the cool and warm white balance, but now seems I have done it over a little bit.

Tomas, I do agree with you

John. Thank you for your praise. Let's keep the good works together!

I think the best spot to shoot Rizal is probably from the bridge down at the bottom of the hill that crosses over I-90. You get a nice S-curve of road leading you into the city (and no branches)! Myself, haven't had much luck there weather wise...
