Emerald Damselfly + Repost
Another one from my day on the Eastern moors near Sheffield. This was only the second time I have seen one of these. I think that the background might be a bit too busy for some but it does show the environment it was found in. All comments welcome.

Canon EOS 40D
Canon 300mm F4 L IS lens, handheld
1/400 sec
F8.0
ISO 400
Cropped and sharpened in PSE8
Forgot to mention when first posted that the image is already cropped slightly to get rid of intruding plant on the left.

would be tempted to crop it to reduce the background confusion!!

I have cropped the image even more but I don't think there is much I can do with this one to improve it much. Ah well, back to the drawing board!! I have re-sharpened in PSE8 but I think it has made it worse. :frown:

I think it would look better cropped the background is a bit busy

The second one is better, first one was a bit small in the frame for me.
I don't think I've seen one of these.
Well done.

Geoff.

I think it was probably to much to crop Andy and there is not much detail maybe try and get closer next time although I know this must be very difficult

Agree with the above comments RE: too much to crop, unfortunatley if the detail isn't there, there's not too much to be done about it. I like the idea though & best of luck on the next one - stick at it :wavey:

Thanks for all the comments. This perhaps wasn't a good enough image to post but we all learn by our mistakes and and from the comments and suggestions of others. :toast:

I think you could have shot a f4 here as the subject doesn't require much depth of field and it would've threw the background out of focus more. Nothing wrong with it being small in frame though.
