Canon 7D, 300mm IS f2.8L, 1/2000 sec @ f/4, ISO 100. Handheld.
Oregon International Air Show
We got a last minute invitation to go to the air show last weekend...free tickets to the VIP section. Having never been to the show, I thought it would be fun to try my hand at photographing the show. Wow, tripod...too slow and confining...same with the mono pod. So, I did most of the show with the 300 f/2.8 hand held...I was pretty tired at the end but got a lot of fun shots...
I know this doesn't have much in the way of nature...other than the sky, but hey...

Hi David,
Great shot of the Beech 18! Nice and sharp and good placement in the frame. Not an easy thing to do with a long lens.
I was there also, shooting with a 400mm f/2.8. I tried a mono pod it was pretty useless. I was sore the next day from holding the lens up all day. But wow what a great lens. If you would like to take a look here is a link to my photos.

Matthew, geez, I can't imagine handholding that monster 400! You've got some great work from the show on your site. Nicely done. It was a lot of fun, that's for sure.
By the way, I posted that this was shot with the 1DsIII, it was actually the 7D...I changed it above.

Seriously, David, it's a great capture of an air show plane. I bet that pilot would love a print!
