See.

Rob Galbraith: new canon glass

If you use big glass, and you want the 'latest', it's time to start saving; the 500 & 600 look as if they are due later next year' the 300mm sooner

Spotted the news out on twitter this morning - given that we always pay a premium rate and exorbitant tax in the UK, unless the exchange rates drop we'll all certainly be saving for a while!

And still no replacement for the elderly push-pull 100-400 mm. (I'm getting too old and creaky to be carrying around my 500mm f4 and 300mm f4 plus bodies plus tripod!)

I guess I'll just have to improve my fieldcraft and get closer to the beasties!

A"huge improvement" in sharpness and overall picture quality

Sounds promising for the extenders, although the current 1.4X doesn't seem to be lacking in that department anyway.

I guess they'll be a good supply of reasonably priced 'old' prime lenses on the second-hand market in due course.

Liking the weight loss in the 400, but not ready to trade mine up yet, maybe wait until the next boom cycle

I see the US retail price for the 300 f/2.8L is likely to be around $7000 which is more than high enough yet the UK RRP looks like being £7500! How does that work?! ...
Still no Canon version of the 200-400mm either

Saw an email this morning suggesting that the extenders will be over £500 - ouch!

I know they will come down but that's a huge amount and will they be much better?

Bring on cheap second hand tele canon lenses. I fancy an 800 myself.

Is my old Sigma 50-500 really that bad ??
Or do I have to sell the house and car to get better pictures.?
