The wife and I will be heading to Oahu for our 15th wedding anniversary in early September. I will be bringing the camera to take pics, but was wondering if anyone else here had been to Oahu and could recommend anything/anyplace in particular not to miss as far nature photogrpahy is concerned. Thanks.
Get a disposable camera for the fish at Hanauma Bay, The entire east, or windward side is nothing but one photo-op after another especially Lanikai Beach, Waikiki Beach, Diamond Head, the north shore, the Pali overlook, yeah, pretty much everything!

I'll second Morris's suggestions and add Kualoa Park, which was perhaps my favorite photo spot. Bonzai Pipeline on the North Shore is nice, though I think the waves are bigger around January. If you go to Hanauma Bay with a tripod, be prepared to be harassed, because unfortunately photography is a crime in Honolulu parks. Just tell anyone who asks that you are an amateur and never plan to make a dime from your photos. Even if that is the truth, the employees with nothing better to do may continue to harass you because clearly anyone with a tripod must be a pro...
Climb Diamond Head. There are some great views from the top and there are plenty of birds on the hike up. Enjoy !!!!

Doug, I lived on Oahu for a VERY short period of time when I was a teen (ages ago), but Morris pretty much hit it on the head. Another thing....if you plan to buy the disposable for underwater, get there VERY early. That beach is dead at sunrise (or at elast used to be) and within 1 hour, it fills up quickly. On a completely different note...if you walk around the left side of Hanauma Bay (around the rocks at low-tide) a blow-hole is around the corner called the toilet bowl. It is big enough to jump into and when a big wave comes, you will fly out of it and then it sucks you back down the drain (like a toilet) It's a bit dangerous, but a blast!
