John,

Nice, sharp and like the water droplets - but have you gone stack crazy?

Dale
Its just a change from 50 years of conventional nature photography ,mainly birds, which I get bored with from time to time, and its like a new interest.
It makes you look for subjects that are suitable.

Its the fact that the optimum aperture for the 50 mm macro is 2 or 3 three stops down from wide open. At the close distance at that aperture the depth of field is minute. So its a case of fousing on the front of the subject, then focussing a bit farther back and taking a whole series of pictures going all the way to the back of the subject. The programme then merges them together.
The quality way better than if you tried to get more DOF by using f 22 or 32 etc. You still wouldn,t cover the whole deppth of the subject anyway.

The quality at full size is amazing. The programme is worth having just for its high pass shapenimng filter.
Not a very scientific explanation but best I can do.
Cheers

Great stacking stuff, John.  Judging by the amount of comments speciesism seems rife on UKNP.
