Winter Grotto
Inspired by some of Petes' shots when the snow fell early on in the year I was really keen to get out and take some waterfall shots with ice and a bit of snow...as winter draws closer again and the berries seem to be out earlier this year I look forward to my favorite seasons autumn and winter. Anyways,

1D2n / 17-40 / ISO 50 - 1/6 at f16, white balance warmed slightly
(10 shots on two rows) / Frozen tripod legs (-8)
Land Rover with offroad tyres to get there

10 shots on two rows ?
What does that mean Ian or am I being thick ?
Cheers

10 shots in total, 5 in each row stitched together in CS4. Similar to a digital pano but across two row. Hope this helps - Ian

Errr- I.m working on it . I can understand the pano bit (I think ) but why two rowsof 5 shots each ? at f16 on a wide angle ?
Interested cos I want to try some of this. Like the idea of stacking landscapes.
Cheers

Actually (hands up) I've put the wrong lens details in and this should read 70-200f2.8 at f16....as I was using both this lens and the 17-40 for single shots....if I use the 70-200 if I can get wider than the 17-40 if stitching lots of shots together across rows. I find I use the 500mm lens for stitching too but you need to be stricter with your setup. Quite a few photographer stitch using wide angle lens (e.g. 17-40) but on full frame camera I tend to find that you can end up with quite a bit of distortion and the results are better on a crop camera. You can get special tripod heads (such as the ones from RSS in the states) for the wider angle lens. Ive sent you an email with a link to the information that I used initially - hope this helps.
