Garganey
There is a canal that feeds into the Lake (Geneva) and a few garganey stay there in the calmer waters,They are very shy and as soon as they spot you they fly off,so i got to the lake early in full camo and laid next to the canal opposite a patch of reeds as this gave the water a nice colour and put some camo netting over myself and waited,Not only did i get the garganey but some little grebes that had proved elusive,The whites look a little hot on this image and seem worse on the jpeg as opposed to the tiff which holds detail

Hi Dave, cracking looking bird, would have preferred a bit more canvas on the right of the image to get the complete water swirl in the shot, thats a minor nit though.
The colour of the water compliments the bird nicely

Never seen one, must catch the next plane over they look great. Looks like it could do with a little more USM.
Nice one

Hi Dave

I like it very much. I've yet to have a good view of this species.

Nice as ever, Dave. We rarely if ever see these in Scoitland - lovely birds.

Never seen this species before. Looks slightly uphill? some CW rotation? Maybe just me. Really like the water colour and you've done a good job with the contrast. Something I seem to struggle with.

Hi Rene
You are always welcome,Let me know when you are coming and i will let you know whats about,This part of the lake can get busy at weekends so weekdays are better but an early start can give you a couple of hours grace before the bird watchers etc turn up

A very fine shot of this striking species.
The water colour works particularly well with the brown plumage. :toast:

The colour pallette works exceptionally well, I'm slightly bothered by the minor crop of the reflection though.

Hi Dave
Super image of a smart looking bird, only minor nit - would like all of the head reflection.
Cheers Simon

Hi Dave

Very nice - don't see many of these in the UK. Agree re a little more USM but everything else looks good!

Hi Dave, very nice shot of this beautyful duck. I would go an inch higher in the frame to include the whole mirror. :toast:
