Summer Tallgrass Progression
The tallgrasses including this big bluestem of the prairies are doing their thing. Simple things like grasses can seem boring to many but when you pay attention to them over the years and gain some knowledge they become quite fascinating.

With the constant winds even at sunset (when this was shot) I had to rely on very high iso to try get this type of shot and deal with it in post but it seemed to work out ok on this. I tried many shots maintaining the natural movement of the wind blown grasses but didn't seem to be able to dial it in quite right for what I was looking for.

Canon 17-40, f/8 @ 1/45, iso 1600, full frame

No complaints here! I love Big Bluestem. It goes through a remarkable transformation of color as the weeks of Fall go by. I like this image.

I like the colors and the transition from the orange to blue. The graphic representation of the grass works well for me.

Hey Brad, I've tried sunset, sunrise, fog etc shots with grasses and have never achieved this level of balance. The movement of colors from top to bottom gives great balance and the dark at the bottom adds an anchor for the lighter portion with the grasses. I would be very pleased with this shot.
