Elephant Hawk Moth Caterpillar
Only found this as Kato saw a squashed one on the road and was devastated as he has been looking for one for ages. After looking in the vegeation at the side of the road (trying our best not to join the RTA victim) we found this beauty. First one I have ever seen. What a bonus to an already great day out.
Full frame. D300 150mm f11 1/80 0EV ISO400 Tripod (2 legs on the bank and 1 on the road) Didn't think there was much point trying to do anything with the vegetation so is just as is.

Looks like a good find. I like the use of natural vegetation...looks natural.

Good one Maggie.
Its amazing that an insect that has a natural foodplant such as the normal willow herb can substitute it for my Fuschias !(and a lot of other peoples )The two plants aren't even related.!
Cheers

Hi Maggie,

No probs with the veg either, it rather suits the shot IMO and what a smart looking beastie, I remember looking for these when I was a kid.
