I have (2) 16 GB CF cards and (1) 16 GB SD card full of Alaska images.
My breezebrowser will not recognize these large cards and I can't open the images. (grrr)
Can someone suggest other software they know can handle large-capacity cards?
How are you reading the cards? Is this the first time you've used the cards? If you are using a card reader, it may not be compatible with cards that use newer techechnology. You may simply need to upgrade to a new card reader.

Can you copy the contents of the card to your computer and then open them?
Sandy,
Have you downloaded the latest updates to your software? You may not have the latest version that supports the larger cards.

Sandy,
I have the same problem when I try to read the cards from my card reader, but I have no problem in transferring the files directly from my camera via the USB cable that came with it.

Right, try connecting the camera straight away with a USB cable. That will tell you if the cards are damaged or not. Since you have three not reading, I suspect the reader, not the cards.
If it IS the cards somehow, don't despair, I have SanDisk's RescuePro 2009 and it has recovered data for me VERY well, even forces a card that won't get recognized in Windows to somehow show up in the RescuePro software. If you exhaust all other options, shoot me a message, I'd be happy to try and recover them for you (I'm in AZ but postage for cards is cheap!).
Thanks, everyone.
I went to Fry's and told them the problem and got 2 new high-quality card readers they said "surely" would open 16 gb cards.
They did not.
So I went online and found a reader that specifically says it is made to open 16+GB CF's and SD's (the D300s uses both, for about 1200 shots without changing media).
In the meantime, I also figured out (non-teckie, here) how to use the new Nikon Transfer software.
So thanks for BOTH suggestions!
