Otter says hello
1D Mk iv, 600mm f4 x 1.4  1/400, f7.1, iso 1000.

I had an amazing encounter with a family of otters on the Tay this morning. It was very foggy and grey, and I thought I was seeing salmon rise. Then four of them appeared. I had to scramble down the bank, at which point they spotted me (see attached). They immediately submerged then, but half a minute later, one suddenly poked its head out of the water five yards in front of me, stared at me and then barked/growled/coughed before disappearing. I'm sure he was saying hello!! I was way overpowered, but no time to do anything about it. I suppose I might never see this again. Laptop processed.

Nice capture as its a difficult shot to get right but I think you've got something special here.
I think you'll process it a bit differently back on your desk-top - its a bit 'lap-toppy' at the moment

Lovely shot Ian :toast:

Processing looks a bit wishy washy ( technical term ) but the laptop maybe explains it

Hi Ian

Great capture - shame about the light but what a fantastic experience to see wild Otter so close.

Well captured. You are very lucky. I am viewing on the works pc so can't comment on the processing.

A great natural history encounter, a photo in such a situation is just a bonus. However, a little bit of post processing and I am sure you will be able to lift this shot a long way.
