Since I was working in San Luis last week, I took the opportunity to go to Stan'sland. The Sand Dunes. The wind was ripping, like usual. Only coming from the east. Doesn't it usually blow from the west? Well, no one can match Stan's work from this place. He knows it like he knows his millibars. It is such a captivating place, and I am grateful I had another chance to visit it.

I don't know, these all look kinda grainy.
I'm really fascinated by the striations beneath the ripples in #1 and #4. Very cool. The b&w shots and the last one are standouts, too. They're all excellent, and very McClungy.
These are all pretty damn fantastic but that first one is freakin' amazing. Every bit as good as Stan's images from here, and I'm a HUGE fan of his sand dune images. Nice, Morris!

The only one I don't think is excellent is the last with the sunflower.
You've got a great eye for detail and it really shows here. My favorites are #1#4 (with a slight nod to #1). Looks like something from Coyote Buttes. I've never seen these types of striations in the Dunes, and I just love 'em. Far and away the best of the lot! Congratulations on a great score.
But..."McClungy" ?!?

Here's another vote for 1 and 4. Excellent work here, Morris. Stan's got competition.

Excellent set, Morris. Looks like you'll spend the next month getting sand out of your gear.
What was that, Bill, I've got too much sand in my ears? I couldn't believe how the sand was in everything, including my ears, even with a hoodie on.

Nice stuff Morris. I love 1 & 4 but #2 is my favorite.

I don't think I've ever seen patterns like you have in 1 and 4. Those are amazing! The only one that doesn't grab me is 6...the light looks harsh. Otherwise, these are outSTANding shots Morris and you should be very chuffed about them

I'm partial to #1 and #4 too, with #1 getting the slight edge. You captured the patterns and DOF superbly, a great set Morris!.

Just as good as any dune pictures I've seen posted here. Not a big fan of the sunflower shot though. Great work.

Those striated lines in #1 under the patches of blown sand are really cool. Nice comp using those lines. I prefer 1 with the mountain background vs the mountains cropped off. I think in #4 you could still crop 1/3 off the top to make it more intimate, if you wish.

Morris....what an excellent collection of shots! Another vote for #1 and #4, with #4 being my favorite. I also really like #3 since I seem to always like a good abstract.

Great collection Morris, you give Stan a run for his money with these.

#4 and #9 are my favorites here, though the focus on the lower end of #9 is a bit of a problem. I really like #2 without the sky. The light here is much better on the sand than the sky.
The propensity for the sand to get into everything is the reason I'm afraid to take my LF camera into the dunes. Shutter cleaning is getting expensive and my older Compurs don't always have parts available.

1,2,4,and 9 are my favorites. What an outstanding collection!

#2 and #4 are my favorites. You might want to crop the top of #4 but that's minor. The others are great as well. Incredible job!

Stan is still the master of the dunes.
