Maybe I've yet to discover this, so correct me if this already exists. Adding File Info in post processing is fine to an extent, but it can be changed or erased. How about a camera feature that allows you to input your name and all pertinent info right into all the RAW images, along with camera data, etc, so that it is more or less a permament fixture to any digital image you take? Maybe it's already available on some models?
This is esp. important in light of potential 'orphan' legislation.

I don't think there is a copyright embedding segment, on many Canon cameras, there is an ability to embed owner name in the ITPC segment of the RAW file in camera.

The problem is that it is incredibly easy to strip this from images as well. All it takes is "Save for Web" in photoshop or an ITPC editor for a fraudulent individual to make the image orphan again.

I see. That's too bad. Yes, something that Canon can work on. Enter your own info that can not be stripped away, just like the other basic RAW data that gets embedded in each photo. Thanks for the reply.

Actually, even if you embed the data in the RAW file, it still can be stripped away. If you can decode the RAW file, which is what Adobe Camera Raw and any other Raw converter does, then it is a simple matter of resaving the file except that that information is not included, or scrambled, or changed, etc. on the resave. Nobody writing RAW converter allows this as an option since the risk to the file is too great but there is technically nothing preventing someone from hacking and resaving the RAW file.

Just so you know, I just bought a 7D, and you can enter copyright information as well as your name and other information, which is embedded into the EXIF data for the RAW capture.
