Hi all,

I am not exactly sure what kind of Redpoll this is, so I would welcome your suggestions.
It was photographed inside the Arctic Circle in Finland back in June on an overcast and rainy day.

Canon 1DMK4, 500mm f5.6, 1/500 ISO800

C&C most welcome.

Cheers

Austin

I only have a book on British birds so can't help with the ID but it's a beautiful bird whatever it is.
Well done.

Geoff.

Lovely image Austin, might be tempted to remove the rain drop, other than that very minor nit it's a cracking image.

Hi Austin

Probably Common Redpoll (Carduelis flammea) common in N Fenno-Scandia the sub-species C. cabaret most often seen in the UK is much browner and Artic Redpoll usually have much finer streaks on the flanks a white rump and finer bill.

Nice image.
