Just a heads up that the sunset shadow of the mitten on the mitten in Monument Valley should be close next weekend or Mon 9/13.

John, Thanks for posting about this last last March. I plan on being there Sat and Sunday eves. Looking at TPE, the angles appear to be good then also.

Wow, that's my b-day (13th), I'd love to be down there for that, but gotta stay around to sell the house.

Doug,
I've been there both the day before and after and it's just not quite as complete
If those are the only days you can make it, then it's better than nothing. I took the above shot the day after when I was rained out on the actual day.

I took this one last Mar 28 when the sunset angle was 274.6* At last light, the shadow was faded, but higher and centered. Monday 3/29 was to be the night at 275.1*, but clouds obscurred the horizon.
Sunday 9/12 the angle will be 275.4* and Monday will be 274.9* I hope that the early shadow on Sunday will start more centered, but will likely shift far right as sunset occurs.
I will have to check if TheView has wifi so I can stay and work during the day on Monday.

Can't wait to see everyone's shots. Hope you have great light!
TC, why are you selling your house?

Is the Haigaitoh Road north of Monument Pass on US 163 open to public travel, as I am thinking sunrise shot?
John, I should be in the campground area Sunday evening for the shadow and camping there Saturday night. Monday is still uncertain. Look for a pewter Chevy PU with shell and a German Wirehaired Pointer dog.
