Roebuck amongst gorse.
Canon 7D, Canon 500mm f4, Gitzo 1548/Arca B1.
1/160 sec @ f6.3, ISO 800.
Full frame, levels, hue/saturation, Neatimage.

Hi,

Thought I'd share this one whilst it was being processed.
I was actually quietly, tip-toeing around looking for a doe when all of a sudden this buck appeared out of the blue, or perhaps that should be, out of the yellow:smile:

Fantastic image quality you have captured here Justin, great colours and superb sharpness, wish my 7D performed like this, just had it calibrated at Lehmanns and it's no where near as sharp as this. Can I ask if you have used the micro adjustment?

Hi Andy,

No, micro adjust wasn't needed at all. The focus is spot-on with the 500mm and with the 1.4X extender attached.

Thanks for the reply Justin, my 7D issues are probably down to my crap technique

I have to admit this is the first time I have looked into this forum, my mistake! Justin, I wonder why you did not post this shot in the fauna gallery? It is a great roe deer shot.

Are you still using the sidekick btw?

Hi Julian,

I did actually answer your question in my previous post, but you must have missed it.
Yes I still use it and I'm still very, very happy with it. I usually just use the Arca ballhead on it's own when I'm photographing deer though, as it's much quicker having to just loosen the one knob, as opposed to having to loosen the main one on the sidekick, the ballhead's panning knob and level the lens, which is a little awkward and slow when your constantly on the move. Love the Sidekick when shooting from a fixed position though.
I hope you're getting on well with your Wimberley :wavey:
