Possible kayak replacement??
Has anyone had experience with a inflatable pontoon boat as a
replacement for a kayak. I am looking at
purchasing an inflatable kayak or inflatable pontoon boat like
the Sea Eagle. I use a very small RV on my travels and
do not want to trailer or put a kayak on the roof. An inflatable
seems like a good compromise, easy to travel with but not
as fast or stable as a hard kayak.

The Sea Eagle is inexpensive, can take a trolling motor or can be
rowed. I plan to only be on small lakes so distance would
not be a major issue.

Any input would be appreciated.

You might want to try out any inflatable craft first. Some inflatable kayaks are real beasts to paddle: slow and difficult to steer. It can be almost impossible to get anywhere if wind comes up, which could be a factor on lakes.

There are folding kayaks that you put together somewhat like a tent. These fit in a big bag and can even be taken on airlines if you want to lug it through the airport. Feather Craft is the name of one such company.

Agreed! The inflatable kayaks are are a bear to handle in wind; the "Feather Craft" collapsible I used in AK was a dream to handle -- just like a traditional solid kayak!
