Before heading over to the events center at the State Fair a few nights ago for the Queensryche show, I found my way to the art building to see Stan Rose's photos. I was pleased to also see a few from Kalin Wilson, Klaus Priebe* and Steve Weaver on display. To quote Borat, Verah niiiice! Stan, as much as I bitched and moaned about your jumping on the Dream Lake blue ice bandwagon last winter, I gotta admit, your gigantic print of it looked really beautiful and real impressive.

These are the forum denizens I noticed. Did I miss any?

*one of KP's photo-art pieces (a shiatload of lightning surreptitiously added to Horseshoe Bend's horizon) had a ribbon, I think it was honorable mention or something.

Way to go! I wish I could see all of your guy's work there!

I went down for the artist's reception the day before the fair opened. There was a nice display of photography and other art. I ran into Steve Weaver and chatted, which is always nice. The only other denizen that I think had pieces accepted and on display was Neil Corman. Everyone's work was top notch. I LOVE Steve's Buffalo and Sangre De Cristo Range shot! He posted that here a while back.

Thanks! Yeah, i was jealous of Steve's Sangre stuff too! Everyones' work was top notch. It was tempting to enter as an amateur again this year (so i could hopefully win some $!) but i decided to join the big boys this year...

I wondered about that, Stan. I assume you make only a small fraction of your income from photography when compared to whatever you make with NWS, so how did you enter as a pro? What were their requirements for that? And do only amateurs win cash awards, not pros?

Congrats people, I never even thought about trying to enter work into the state fair, maybe I'll try next year.
