Hi All,
I have a few "functions" coming where I'd like to have my images on a slideshow, but dont really want to use a laptop to do so. It does need to be tabletop or even the size for small groups of people to hand hold and view, was looking at the Epsom p1000, Anyone used one ?? or advise of other gadgets I could use. Images will be Jpeg's
Take a look at the iPad... (you'd need to glue it down to stop it developing legs and 'walking' though . (You can even use it with a projector if you want! )
Other than that check out things like Sony's digital photo frames - some of them have stunning displays.

Hi Rob,
I use the Epson P-7000, it has a 4inch screen which is very good, images are clear and bright, plus you get the added advantage of the 160GB hard drive, which is always useful when on location.
The Epson roughly costs the same price as a 16GB iPad, which has a vastly superior 9inch screen, so if hard drive capacity isn't an issue, then I'd go with the iPad.
The iPhone feels incredibly small after using an iPad.
Mike - the ipad's memory is a bit too small for serious downloading, there're gadgets better suited to that. But for showing images & slideshows, the iPad is fantastic.... And it's tactile - the viewer can hold it their hands and interact with it incredibly simply.

My only concern with getting the iPad is as you say, it going walkies. One function I will be at will have approx 300 people
I cannot believe that you are contemplating spending in excess of £400 for a ipod just to show images at a show/function when you could buy several digital photo frames for a lot less money that would show your images as a slide show.
I use 3 10inch Hp ones each with a different slideshow running of CF cards you could get 4 8'' one's for considerably less than £200 and have quite a impressive show.
You can run slideshows on the iPod, you can also run pictures2exe slideshows on it too (as videos), and if you want, you can also use the iPad with a projector. It also runs from it's own battery - unlike most photo frames.

Hi All,
I obviously want the best to show my images off, but I cant justify spending that sort of money on an iPad, may get some good quality digital photo frames, or may even just have a "static" display and use my laptop. If sales are good perhaps I'll treat myself to an iPad

Once hooked you will wonder how you lived without it... you've been warned...
Best device Apple have ever made, and it is superb for showing ppl quality work.
Only downside I can find with it is that it won't take files from my cameras wirelessly
.....and can you connect external hard drives to read from/backup to, eg a storage unit
