John Fielder's son found dead. He may not be the group favorite here, but right now he's just a father facing tragedy. My sincerest condolences and prayers.

Incredible news. Very sad.

Truly tragic, especially after his wife's passing quite recently. Unbelievably sad.

BrentD just told me this a few minutes ago. Terrible news.

You're right, Rich. Personal opinions of John's work and ethics aside, this is truly terrible news and my heartfelt condolences go out to the Fielder family.

Awful news. :frown:

Brent/Rick,

Any chance at organizing a card for us to send on behalf of CNP?

Funny, I was just getting ready to email Brent with the same thought, Rich. I think it is an excellent idea.

I'd like to sign it too if you guys don't mind. Perhaps contrary to some I actually like Fielder's work.

The card is a wonderful idea. Poor guy. I was wondering if his wife was still with him as I knew she was in very bad shape.

So sad...

Anyone have a suggestion on how to get a card sent around for people to sign? Can't wrap my head around the logistics to make this happen, aside from just mailing a card around for a couple weeks.

A couple of ideas.

We could leave it with Brent at Qube? and for those who dont or cant make it we can include a sheet with comments from the others. We might want to make it one of our members Colorado prints that we sign the border to. Or someones custom made greeting cards.

Any other ideas?

Brent - maybe we can get together as a happy hour and sign it - that should get many signatures at once. Then we could mail it around for those that could not make it.

If the logistics are too complex, I can send him a separate card. I didn't quite think it through, obviously.

I had considered having BrentD keep a card at Qube. I suppose I need to OK that with him, though. Anyone have a photo card they would donate? If not, I can pick up a card at Hallmark or something and drop it off at Qube.

So sad.

I'll donate a few cards and drop them off with Brent D if you like. I have to stop by Qube by Friday at a the latest anyways.

Terrible news. Sorry to hear this. Thanks for reporting it here. Since I live on the east coast, I likely would not have heard this otherwise.

There will be cards available to be signed at Qube Visual starting on Friday, thanks to RichieV. My guess is we'll probably leave them there for about a week, in case anyone wants to stop by. Maybe something like this can be worked out down in the Springs area, too?

It is very sad to hear this as just yesterday I was paging the big Granite book and saw many of the shots of JT working with his Dad. I think it is truly a testiment that even those who may not be on the best of terms can share a heart felt understanding of the pain John is going through right now.

Words can't describe the pain JF must be feeling right now. You can be sure that John Fielder is being "bombarded" with cards and sympathy right now (which is great). While I think that a card would be a great idea for now, it would also be a great idea in a few weeks once the initial support has calmed down a bit. Sometimes it's easy to forget the rough times that follow after the initial news of the tragety wears off. Just my thoughts. :frown:

You know? I agree with Scott on this.
Posted by Brent Murphy on March 23, 2006 at 1:03 PM
I agree as well. But I figure by the time everyone who wants to sign a card actually has a chance to do so, it will be at least another week or so before we're to the point where we would actually drop it in the mail, so it's all good.
Posted by Brent Murphy on March 27, 2006 at 11:16 AM
Just a reminder, we have a card over at Qube Visual for a while if anyone is interested in signing. Once it's been there for a little while, we'll probably drop it in the mail to anyone else who is interested but can't make it to Qube.
Posted by Jesse Speer on March 27, 2006 at 11:30 AM
I'd love to get it by mail, and would be happy to mail it off to the next person.
