This weekend on the Firehole. Somewhat of an icon but I thought I would put my take on it. Midway Geyser Basin in the background. Fall colors are starting up.
As always I would appreciate any comment, critique, opinion or anything else you would like to add. Thanks for taking the time.

Wow, that is gorgeous! I'm not all that familiar with Yellowstone, but I've never seen a shot of this. The sunrise colors are great, and the distant geyser steam adds so much depth.

I've not seen an image like this either. Terrific sky, nice reflections, beautiful foliage color and the rising steam from the geysers is great. I wish the river bends weren't clipped on either side, but that is a very, very small nit. Well done!

Dean this is incredible! any chance you have another exposure to blend in to some of the highlights?

Nice image! I'm not familiar with this spot either. Highlight blend would be a good idea if you have the exposure.

This is a gorgeous scene overall, Dean. I really love the reflections and the steam rising. My main nit is the blown highlights behind the ridge, dead center of the image. I don't know how to fix that, but I think it would be worth spending some time on as this really is a great shot.

Beautiful capture Dean. Love the colors in thy sky and the U river. My only two gripes are what was stated above. If you cropped or have another shot that is a bit backed out, I would give the edges of the river a bit more room to breathe. The other is the blown highlights, which if you don't have another exposure to work with, there may be little you can do with it. Very unique image though, good work!

September is such a nice time in the park. I love the clarity of the light here.

Here's a redo. This was a very contrasty image. The sun just dropped below the ridge left of center. So this is the best I could do at my skill level. I have another thats wider but the horseshoe doesn't look quite right. Looks better with a tighter crop.
Thanks for all your thoughts!

Nice image Dean. I've stood at that point many times over the years. Hope to be back there next week. Looks like things are starting to change.
Beautiful shot - I was also there this weekend. Hope to get back there soon.

Oooohhh....that second version looks great! That minimized the 'blown out' areas so they're inconsequential and helped highlight the steam vapors and sky reflections much better. Tight crop looks fine to me, as well.
This view certainly isn't iconic with me, and I love it. Great capture!

The repost looks great--nice scene and comp! I think you could probably raise the brightness just a tad so the midtones are similar to the first post.

Yep repost is awesome. I absolutely love that bend!

Another vote for the 2nd post. I'm with Stan about the midtones.

Beautiful, the curve of the river, steam pots in background and that gorgeous sky, well done

The original is excellent, but the repost is even better! Sweet light and great comp!
