Hi Lea,
Another wonderful Kingfisher shot! I have been watching your Kingfisher shots lately as it is my favorite bird. I do feel that there is a slight red cast in your images but i can't make out wether it is the early morning light or a red cast.
I did try to correct it a bit in the image below so let me know what you think..
greetings,
Jeroen Stel

thank you Jeroen, and thanks for taking the time to edit. to me your edit looks like it has a slight green/blue cast to it. i think the slight red cast you see is the early morning light as i dont think any of my shots of her in dull overcast light show the cast. thanks again and please leave your edit up so i can see what others think.

Lea I am no expert on processing and I havn't commented on previous shots although I have been looking. I also find that there appears to be a red cast and wonder if it is not being created by what ever program you use for processing. Having not used Camera Raw before I was somewhat annoyed by a red cast being created in some of my images until I managed to master it. If I used NX2 that cast didnt appear. My images didnt look like what I had seen when taking them if you follow.

thank you major and yes i do follow what you mean, the images i post are near enough as i see them in fact if i put my finished image along side the raw there is hardly and difference in the colour, maybe i should recalibrate my monitor, this could be the problem. thanks again.

It's a beauty and fills me with envy yet again! I also see a cast (monitor calibrated a few hours ago) - maybe somewhere between the two?

ok now that i am looking at the images, for some reason my posted shots do seem a little warmer strange ? and i have converted to srgb, anyone have any ideas ?

It's a lovely shot
Once you start messing with colour it can be difficult to know when to stop, I know from experience
Somewhere between the two would look right to my eye anyway.
Well done.
Geoff.

Lea, this is a fantastic shot. I can only suggest that as the iridescent nature of the feathers can lead to some interesting colours, you play around with the WB until you have a result that you are happy with. For me, the colours of your initial post are fine. I did wonder if there was a little burn out on some of the feathers on the back? Andrew

thanks again all,
ian im not sure about the burn out on the back all looks well to me in cs.
now that its been mentioned my images are looking a little warmer online to what i have on the pc im not sure why as i always convert to sRGB. could it be a browser problem? im using IE going to download safari to see if the problem still persists, does anyone have any sugestions as i would like to get to the bottom of this. thanks again
Update, i have downloaded and installed safari and it does look like ie has a slight colour shit not alot but enough for it to notice. safari is bang on to the image on the pc. so its not my processing lol i was getting worried.
verdict im happy with the original image
