I always get thrown off by the difference in breeding plumage and non. So is this a male (or juvie) woodie?? Lots of brush and the sun had just started hitting this area. Thanks in advance! Was by itself in Northeast PA taken yesterday.

Bill,
You've got it. This is a Wood Duck and by the looks of it a young male. I say a young male because of the vertical white patch on the chin. That isn't present on the females but is there on the adult breeding males.
