We're taking a motorcycle trip over to the San Juans with some friends and I'm hoping I get some time for some shooting. I'll have a jeep for at least one evening and one morning. The rest of the time will be on bike.
I'm pretty familiar with the normal sunset haunts, but I've always had mixed results with sunrise around Ridgway. I've shot sunrise from log hill, CR 5, and along the road up to Owl Creek pass. What other locations should I consider?
Thanks!

Dallas Divide, natch.
BTW, it pains me to say this, but the t/s lens is yours.

I am intersted in this as well.....I have seen so many terrific panos outside of Ridgway from several obviously different vantage points.

I did not have the right vehicle when I was near there, but sunrise in Governor Basin looked like an option.

You might consider Ouray and Ridgway! The towns themselves are great in sunrise light.

Stan, you must be thinking of some other Ouray... sunrise light? Uh... no. We get great noon light though.
Sunrise... sunrise... I'm wracking my brains, can't think of much really, unless you get up high on the peaks. One option would be to head toward Owl Creek pass, but stop along those idyllic ranches along the way, where you get more of an eastern vantage of the Sneffels Range (with a telephoto).

Thanks all, as it turned out sunrise was late enough that photography would have conflicted with our 4x4 trek.
