Nature's Canvas + repost
The Mountains of Landmannalaugar look like an abstract painting of nature, making this a very surreal place to walk around. Due to the overwelming amount of colour and mountains it's actually quite hard to get a composition that works without being overdone. This was one of my favourite images from that place.

Now I love that place. Hope you enjoyed the free hot bath.
The image works well with the diagonals but it really needs a sense of scale to lift it from the abstract world.

I don't know the place but I like the picture !

It is difficult to judge the scale though.

Haha no free hot bath, the weather was horrible!

Agree on the sense of scale, I like the abstractness myself

I really like the picture! The lack of a sense of a scale leaves you wondering what it could be - it could easily be joints in a rock or the mountains that it is!

Hi Jorne,

I like the idea of this shot but it seems a bit washed out in contrast and color.
I think a bit of curves in PS would turn this into a stunner.

greetings,

Agree the colours could do with a little boost but I really like the image. The textures are lovely. They actually look like stone or wood. :toast:

Thanks everyone, I think you are right about the contrast, did a quick readjustment on the jpg, how is this?

The diagonals work well but cant help but feel it needs a focal point .2nd one is a much improved post

I think you need the big boulders in the valley bottom of the shot to give it scale....I think I have seen shots that include these and are an important part of the scene. As an abstract it is okay. I don't think the addition of contrast has really worked too well. For me I think you needed better light for the shot (stronger shadow areas in particular)...texture could be stronger like the Painted Hills in Oregon.... Landmannalaugar reminds me of this area. Nice shot of an area I haven't been to though.

Thanks for the honest feedback Ian, sorry to dissappoint you though, no big boulders on the valley floor over there
