First Black Darter of the year
One from last Saturday. I know all the Dragonflys were about 3 weeks late this year but these fellows have been exceptionally late. Have been visiting a reknowned site for them for several weeks and none have appeared as yet. Late afternoon we decided to try another site we had got them at last year and only found this one. Hopefully this weekend some more will have arrived but the forecast is not good :frown: May have to go after some Ruddy Darters instead

Hi Maggie,

I am not the biggest fan of "busy" backgrounds, but in this case it seems to work just fine.
Well done placing this in the center and a lovely shot of this handsome Darter.

greetings,

Jeroen Stel

Good capture Maggie, I like the natural BG. Not a fan of the crop though I must say but that's more of a personal preference than a crit.

Cheers,

Nice capture Maggie
Background doesn't bother me, it's natural so no problem.
Well done.

Geoff.

Top record shot of this species; I particularly like the fact that the background tells us a bit about the animals ecology.

Cheers,
Chris

nicely captured Maggie and a nice Darter to photograph. I've seen very few Darters all summer at my local sites.
