Harlequin Duck II
This is another shot from the Laxa River in Iceland but this time higher speed. This male was feeding amongst the rapids and every now and then he would just water raft down them towards the calmer parts and then head back up again. I worked out a good place to lie and wait so I could grab his portrait. They are not easy and can be difficult to approach. Great Birds though.

Canon 1D MK11, 500mm Lens, 1.4x Convertor, F5.6, 1/400, ISO 200

Great catchlight and the clarity of the bird looks excellent against that background :toast:

Very well composed and exposed, considering all that white turbulence in the background.
Another cracking image Danny.

So you used your old camera at 700mm, iso200, and 1/400 shooting a duck that's bouncing about in rapids - and it's razor ! Treble git !

Very nice indeed Danny - I know it's a different style of shot, but I prefer this to 1.

I like this Danny, lovely colours in the Harlequin, i wonder how it would look with a little shaved off the top of the frame?
