My wife and I got to spend an 8 days in Alaska from August 28- September 4, she even let me take my camera!
We flew to Anchorage and then spent 3 days in Girdwood, Ak at the Alyeska Resort, a great place to stay. We used this a a base point and explored the Girdwood, Portage and Seward areas. The day trip through the Kenai Fjords National Park was well worth the time.
We then drove to Denali National Park and spent the next 3 days. The only way to get deep into the park was via the park bus system. We choose the 8 hour wilderness tour and were rewarded with many great scenes and wildlife spottings. We were also lucky to see Denali without clouds during our excursion.
We also spent one day driving the Denali Highway from Cantwell to Paxson. The great thing about this is the scenery is similar to the National Park but you can drive and stop for photos whenever you like.
On our final day we drove over Hatcher Pass, one of the few roads that gets you in the high country.
Love the clearing storm with the rainbow. Love the stream along Hatcher Pass. Liking the Orca a lot too.

Central states do have their appeal to Alaska is a wonderland for photography.
Took about a thousand photos in one small area, Matthews River on the s. slope of the Brooks Range. Different topography but still fun.
Great photo and thanks for sharing.

Tom, that's about the most beautiful collection of work I've ever seen from Alaska. The Glacier Lake shot is incredible, and I love the early morning image from Summit Lake - so much depth. And the sunset reflections at Turnagain Arm (the telephoto one) is killer! And the lynx photograph is great too. Heck, they're all great! Thanks for sharing!

Hey Tom, if these images are any indication it looks like you had a wonderful trip. While I really like the landscape images I'm particularly jealous of the wildlife subjects you saw & photographed. Really good stuff all around. Welcome home and thanks for sharing!

Thanks, Tom for your images of Alaska. I particularly like the Early Morning Summit Lake. Very peaceful, it filled me up! I'm glad you had a good trip.

Wow Tom I am really jealous! You captured some fine images and I really love the ones with the fall color in them. I will make it up there one day. Wildlife is so much fun on a trip when you see them like that and I know you had a blast shooting them too. I will study them all more later.

I have not spent much time photographing wildlife but I learned a lot and a big lense is a must! Here is a link to my Alaska Gallery if you would like to look.
