Yes, if you've been THINKING about getting a G11, then waiting for the G12 might make sense. Otherwise ...

Just bought the G11 2 months ago - go figure. Good camera for having something on hand, but fiddly to work with compared to my 5DII. The G11 has all of the controls, but I don't like the 'big box' auto-focus (as opposed to the focus points on a DSLR)

G12 In-camera HDR merge: "With the use of a tripod, one push of the shutter button yields three sequential images with various exposures, and then combines them into a single optimized image. A feature such as this typically requires outside software, however, this process can be completed within the camera thus helping to eliminate one critical step in the creation and editing process."

The results will be interesting. Probably on its way to other Canon models.

If you are looking into the G12 you may also want to check out the Lumix LX5 and Nikon Coolpix P7000 both also just announced.

Meh. I've always been turned off by the 28mm wide end. Not wide enough!

G12 In-camera HDR merge:
Note that this feature only works when shooting JPEGs. I'd still rather 'roll my own' when it comes to any in-camera optimization features.
This is an easy upgrade to pass on, IMO.

FWIW, I just picked up the Canon S95 and used it for 4 days straight while on my ride. Damn thing rocks. Love that it fits in a pocket. I'm very pleased with this little guy.
