Yep, that's a killer shot!

That photo captures the essence of the rut. Nostrils flared and eye rolled back. Nice. Great time of year with the bugling and harem herding.

You captured a great expression here. I love the symmetry of the far antlers pointing down!

Great image of a majestic animal! Was this around Horseshoe? Moraine?

Love the head on pose, very in-your-face! And getting the nose to antlers in focus at only f7.1? I would think f16 would be needed, or is this a crop? Anyways, great shot!

Don- This is a full screen shot- no crop. Maybe the 5DMKII full frame sensor with 21 mp gave the shot good DOF? Does anyone know for sure?

Bob, based on my DOF Master, I would have to know how far you were from the subject, but guessing at around 30 yards (since this is not cropped at 700 mm) based on the shot, you have a DOF at that AP of about 2 feet. You can see the back points of the antlers are starting to blur, so looks pretty accurate.
BTW, great capture you got here! Also, like Dave S. I was wondering if this was close to Morraine? Horseshoe?
