Season's End
I've shared some of these images here and on ESS, but I thought I'd put them all together in one thread. The summer this year went by so fast for me, and I really didn't get much opportunity to enjoy it in the mountains. I had an opportunity for a quick overnight trip in July and I was fortunate to have nice light in the morning and evening.

So, in no particular order, welcome to the Upper Mohawk Lakes Basin

Old Man of the Mountain and Pacific Peak.

Alpine Forget-me-not 1:1 LF macro. This is my wife's favorite alpine flower and I was happy to find a group in decent shape so late in the season.

The full version I intended to link is here. This version is cropped, but met the NPN size requirements.

Portrait of a Columbine

4X5 Provia 100F, Schneider Symmar-S 150/5.6, f22, 1sec, light bounced off the white side of my darkcloth.

I had to wait a long time for the wind to stop moving these flowers down by the lake. This resulted in some minor light leaks and a slight crop from the ideal framing.

Finally a shot of the Upper Basin at sunrise on two different films. This one is the new Ektar 100.

This one is Fuji Pro 160C. The Ektar shot has far higher contrast, less grain and is sharper, but I liked the way the clouds lined up for this shot on the Fuji offering.

That's all for now.

"Alpine Morning" and second to last are really fantastic, Mel. Last one's great, too, but I prefer the one before it.

'Fading Light...' is an outstanding composition with some sweet and subtle light.
Both flower portraits are crisp and beautiful. I much prefer the composition and tighter field of view of the cropped version as presented here over the uncropped version you linked to.
Finally, while I slightly prefer the clouds in Upper Basin #2, I greatly prefer the luminosity (esp. in the waters) of #1.
A fine summer series!

That last two are outstanding.

I hear ya on the summer went fast. Seems like I hardly got out this summer.

Nice series. That Ektar film looks promising. Great light and reflections in that shot.

Nice work, Mel. 2, 4, 6, and 7 really work for me. I just love the colors in the last two.

Nice work Mel....think I like 2,4 and 6 best with 6 probably edging it out.

Great composition and light on #2 and 4. I especially like the sunburst in #4.
