cell phone as external monitor?

Eventually I want to upgrade bodies but I really like the flexibility that the swivel LCD on my D5000 gives me. Is there an app that will allow my cell phone to be used as an external monitor for a D300s? That would be very cool.
Thanks.

When I first read this I thought it was ridiculous - but then I broke down what you are really getting at and I think there is something. I can't remember the name of it - but there is an app (probably more than one) that allows you to sync with a camera and it will give you exif data and I *think* display the image after you take it (I don't think liveview can function, but I could be wrong). From what I remember, it would be far more useful in a studio setting, but it could have some benefits depending on application. I'd start cruising the app store for photography apps and see what you find.

Bruce,

There are a couple ways to go to do this. Below is a link that describes how to do it with an iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch...

I don't think you can control the camera but you can at least see what the images look like after they are taken.

That could be really nice on the ipad You could get a better, read bigger, view of what you have captured.

Definitely. I got one a couple weeks ago and am really intrigued by hte idea. I just wish there was a way to control a Nikon Camera from the ipad and see live view... Looks like you can do it with Canon's wireless adapter using a web browser but not Nikons. Still, having a remote camera set up with an eye-fi card sounds like a pretty great option.

Thanks for the responses guys. I'm not looking to control the camera from the phone but liveview and settings is what I'm really after. Sometimes I just can't position myself behind the camera and get the perspective and composition I want. I think I'm going to stop using the flip screen on my D5000 for awhile and see if it's something I can live without.

Bruce,

The other option to check out is a Right-angle view finder. I don't know if there is one that fits the D5000, but I know there are some that fit the higher end cameras. The Nikon ones aren't cheap but I think there are some off brand ones from China on Ebay if I remember correctly.

Click here to see Nikon's page

That might help...

The only problem with DSLR Camera Remote by onOne is that it requires a computer between your iPhone/iPad and the camera...
