I am going to Borneo in October (there will be another thread about that tomorrow!) and may be buying an underwater housing. Obviously I cannot afford the Ikelite range and those more expensive, but I found a company called Ewa Marine who make underwater housings. Does anyone have any experience of using one?
Also, what lens should I use - I have a Nikon D300s as a camera, and would use either a nikon 18-55mm kit lens or a tamron 90mm f2.8 macro lens. I will not be using a flash (as I don't have one!)
Thanks
Oscar

Hi Oscar,I know nothing about underwater photography but when I went to the Scottish nature photography fair to see Danny Green there was another speaker called Alex Mustard giving a talk. He's a well known underwater photographer and seemed very keen for us 'land' photographers to give it a go.He sounded very approachable and I wonder if you contacted him through his website, whether he would give you some advice.

Mark Harding was our resident underwater guru - he used the name Writepic on NPNUK
Years ago I had an EWA bag for my Canon L2 video camera and it did the job! I now have one for my Canon 7D and use it with my 17-40 lens. I had a specific use for it when purchased. I wanted to weight the bag and drop it into a couple of feet of water to video a sunfish on a nest. I bought and used 10 lbs of diving weights to keep the bag on the bottom as any movement would have stirred up the silty bottom. It worked beautifully and I have a small video, using it, on Youtube under my initials, ebkw, "The last Pumpkinseed".
I'm off for a few days but if you would like more info I'll get it for you on return.
