I am planning a trip to UP west, plan to stay near around Watersmeet as my base location and work my way..

I am on budget, I am looking for something reasonable, like Cabin or something in the price range of $25-40.

Your suggestions are welcome..

If you are a little more flexible there are a number of motels in Ironwood in the 30-40 dollar range. I usually stay there if I'm shooting waterfalls on the Black River or the Eastern End of the Porcupine Mountains.I sometimes stay at the Konteka in White Pine if I'm shooting in the Porcupine Mountains, Bond Falls, etc. It's a little more expensive $55.

Thanks Phil for your quick response. Yes I rememeber Konteka, I have been there for lunch when I was in Porkies, it's a nice place. I like your suggestion. I do plan to go to Black river area. I wanted to be close to Bond Falls so that I can be there early morning and I also plan to explore Sylvania area, which I have no idea about.I will be shooting in Porkies also.

Ironwood would be little further for me since I am coming from down state.

Thanks,
manoj

Manoj, You might also want to check the Walleye Lodge at the top end of Lake Gogebic in Bergland. I think they have some rooms that start at 36.00 and go up. Suppose to be a nice clean place. Several MWNP members have stayed there in the past.
You would be close to the Porcupines and Bond Falls. Good Luck!

The Walleye lodge is a good place to stay. I've stayed there several times in the past and would stay there again when I get back up there. It is nothing spectacular but nothing scary either. It is about halfway between Lake of the Clouds and Bond Falls, Bond Falls being slightly further away. There is also a small restaurant and gas station just east at the traffic light (where you will turn left to go to Lake of the Clouds). Bonanza Falls is about halfway between the motel and Lake of the Clouds.

To the west in Bergland, there is a lake on the right that faces west (the road turns a bit). With clouds and good conditions, the are some sunset possibilities if you are short of time.

Thank you everyone. I have booked room at the Walleye lodge. I will be reaching there about 5:00pm coming from Mackinaw, and yes I am looking for good spot for Sunset, I was thinking about going to Lake superior shoreline on the way towards Lake of the cloud. I will check out your location Dan.

Thanks,

Union Bay on the east side of the Porcupine Mountains offers some great sunset shots. If it is cloudy you can stop at Bonanza Falls. Lake of the Clouds offers some great sunrise shots as does Bonanza Falls.
If you are headed toward Bond Falls you might want to go on to Canyon Fall. I think it is a better shooting location but that's just me.
