Diving Bird ID
On my eagle chase again today, I encountered this bird for I think the 2nd or 3rd time at a lake in Northeast PA. The bird seems to hover in the air for a few seconds, and then takes a nose dive straight down to the water. This photo is horrible, but I'm hoping the behavior and some details can get me an ID (or a clue!). Thought of a kingfisher, but I'm not sure there are a variety of that around here?? Appreciate anyone's help once again.

Bill,

Belted Kingfisher it is. Very cool moment you've captured here.

Awesome Drew, thank you!! When I first saw them hovering, and then doing this, I was amazed. I'll try to get a better photo of both activities. TRY.
