I just recently discovered that ALL my files in Bridge as well as ACR have a magenta cast to them. This just came out of nowhere. I have NO idea as to why this JUST happened. I opened the same files in CS3 and the same result. I opened them in Lightroom and the same result. However in Canon's DPP they look just fine. That's the mystery. I am totally lost on this issue. Regardless of what files I open it's all the same. Magenta cast. Hmmmmm??? I worked in PS on Thursday night and all was just fine. Any feedback on this issue would be greatly appreciated.

I'm guessing it has nothing to do with Bridge, CS3 or CS5. Sounds to me like something happened with your monitor calibration. I'm assuming you have a calibrated monitor? That would be the first place I'd look.

Thanks Keith for the quick feedback. This defineltly NOT a monitor calibration problem. Everything looks just fine in Canon's DPP software. INET looks fine. Word looks fine. It's only images in PS. I did a reinstall of the software CS5. Nothing. Like I said I worked in PS on Thursday night and all was fine. A monitor calibration problem would be gradual, not an overnight thing. If it looks good in DPP it's not a monitor problem. Somethings gone wrong here and I'm not sure why. Thanks.
Mitch, I would have suspected monitor too, but it sounds like there is something odd taking place. Did you try printing anything to see if it follows the printout as well? Just a thought. Or how about something changed in the workspace profile?

Do you mean all image files or RAW files? Changes made to raw files in Adobe software may not be visible in other RAW viewing/editing software.

Thanks Paul. I have not tried printing anything out. YES...there is something very odd taking place. How can PS work one day and then create this color cast to the images only in Bridge the next. Like I said...DPP looks fine and I could work the images in there. But I need to find out what the issue is here. All my updates are up to date as well in Bridge. I'm lost on this one. Never had this problem EVER!

Hi Buck, no all files. JPG's TIFF's, even BW images have this magenta tone to them.

So, if you view a black and white JPEG image in Adobe software, i.e., Bridge or PhotoShop CS3, it has a magenta cast. If you view it in DPP it does not have a magenta cast. How about if you view it in other software such as FastStone, Quicktime Picture Viewer, Windows Picture and Fax Viewer, Picasa, etc.
How about it you post one here, to see if we see what you see?
If you only see the problem with Adobe software, then it seems to me that the problem is with the Adobe software.

Buck, I even opened "sample pictures" in Adobe and they had a magenta cast to them also. This is frutrating, puzzling. Yes, I think it is an Adobe problem. I'm not seeing the issue elsewhere. I'll call them tomorrow. Hmmmmmm??

Have you checked your color settings in Photoshop? It sounds like something is going wrong in a color space conversion or a bad or incorrect profile is being applied.
Mitch, as I stated earlier from the sounds of your testing throughout and reading all the comments I would think it to be a Work /Color Space issue that has changed the profile somewhere. I've had oddities like this before too, but do not recall a magenta one overall. But, when investigating the Photoshop Work / Color Space it showed wrong settings which I reset as required. Good luck.

Hmm.. very strange. When Photoshop starts mis-behaving, resetting the preferences file is one place I go. To reset it with windows, press and hold Shift+Ctrl+Alt and start PS. Mac, Shift+Command+Option and start PS. You'll be asked if you want to delete your preferences file. I'd start with that. Still can't figure out how that has any affect on Bridge, but I'm not a Bridge user, so.... YMMV.

Thanks for all the replies. Here's the latest test. I printed what on my monitior was a very magenta looking image. It printed just fine. I also emailed a magenta looking image to my friend. It came across just fine. I burned a CD of files. Opened on my computer at work, and they look just fine. I have no idea what is going on here. I'm at a loss. Keith I'll try your test and see what happens. Very strange. I wonder if it could be my graphics card, and not an Adobe problem.

Sounds like you need an updated screen re-calibration. Also, you need to tell DPP, when the new screen cal is done, to use that new profile. It's in the DPP prefs. Also, make sure your using the latest version of DPP. Then, you'll have parity between everything. You can test by making a 128, 128, 128 rgb filled document. If it's doesn't look perfectly neutral then something is awry...
There has been issues of openGL on Macs (in photoshop) not displaying accurate colors because of driver conflicts. But, the color issues associated with this is Photoshop only. Not other programs.

Well, after speaking with my local computer store, they recommended a "restore" of the system. I did that and all seems fine now. All I had to do was do an uninstall/reinstall of CS5. I still have no idea what caused this problem of magenta cast. It's nice dealing with a local dealer! No calls to people in India or some far off land.
