Hi all :wavey
Here is a juvenile heron I came across this week in Central London! I was actually out photographing on a totally different project when I came across this young heron on the banks of the Serpentine eating bread! I only had my 70-200mm with me so had to compromise on the framing slightly but finally settledon this square shot, what does everbody think?
Techs D300, nikon 70-200mm 2.8vr, 1/250 @ f4 handheld
As always all critique welcome

Superb Shaun, I love it. Up close and personal!

I was photographing a Heron yesterday morning, great birds and watching one hunting for fish was a very enjoyable way of spending couple of hours.
I like the shot, if it were mine I'd be tempted to go for a full landscape crop, giving a little more roon for the bird to look into, no big deal though.

It's a great heron portrait, would be better with a bit more room on the left.
Well done.
Geoff.

Very tricky lighting on this one Shaun, although the setting don't suggest bright sunlight. A bit of cloud cover would have helped. I think you could tone down the background highlights a bit. I love heron close ups!

Shaun
I really like the Heron close ups their is just something about the species but exactly what it is I can't identify. They are without doubt photogenic.
Well taken.

Hello Shaun.
Nits covered, mainly a bit more room in front for me but its a nice detailed portrait.
