I know these aren't of Colorado, but I recently took a spontaneous trip to Oregon (and proposed to my girlfriend on the rim of Crater Lake...she said yes). But, we had an amazing sunset at Whaleshead Beach that I wanted to share with the group in case anyone heads over to that area. Below are links to some of the images I got that evening.

I particularily like he second one. There is a faint bit of green in a wave that is nice complement to the warm colors. The mist creates some excellent layers in the scene. Very well done.

Congrats on the proposal! Great photos, too. Looks like you had some awesome conditions. Well done, Josh.

Thank you, and Thank you.

I'll be posting a few from our snowshoe around Crater Lake, as well as our drive through Jedediah Smith Redwood SP in the coming days. If anyone does have an interest in visiting Oregon in the coming months, send me an email, and I can offer some suggestions on locations, areas and so forth...as well as wineries if that's your thing...

First of all, congrats on the engagement!! :toast:

Cool shots! I really dig the huge crashing wave in #4! Man, makes me want to see the ocean again sometime soon!!

Good idea to ask her to marry you on the rim of Crater Lake. That way, had she said no, no one would find the body.

Great shots, btw!

This reminds me of my trip to Canon Beach (Oregon) when I was 12. Nice pics.

Josh, the shot with the crashing wave is my favorite. Nice stuff.

Wonderful shots, Josh. That looks like a spectacular beach, where is it located?

The beach is located just north of Brookings, OR at an area called Whaleshead. There is a small "resort" of cabin/cottages there upslope from the beach, above US 101, and the signage is well done. It can be accessed from a road directly off of US 101 marked "Whaleshead Beach". US 101 runs probably 300 feet above sea level, and the access road takes you down a steep grade...it is "paved", but has a few rough spots on the way down. We were fine in our Infinity QX4 though. I do believe this is the perfect time of year to shoot from the area that we did. There were plenty of starfish in the tide pools and so forth if that's your thing. It's only about a half hour from Jedediah Smith Redwoods SP and Smith River NRA, so there are more than enough photo ops in the area. If you've never been to Smith River, it is ephemeral waterfall heaven, with the river itself having that unique PNW turquoise hue. Feel free to shoot me an email on roads and so forth.
