Juvenile Goldfinch
Got a lot of these about at the moment, not so pretty with their patchy heads, you can just see the changes going on, in a few weeks they will be beauties

A lovely shot Karen.
Send a couple down my way if you like, they're not very plentiful around my house
Well done.

Geoff.

I took a few of these today, as well! Decided to delete them in the end - it's not a good look for them! Everything else about the shot is perfect though :toast:

I only get sparrows on the balcony, would settle for some scruffy finches :) especially sharp ones!!

Crafted portrait, Karen. I particularly like the synergy that exists between the gold in the wing and the lichen on the perch. The whole thing is framed well within the green, diffuse bg.

Cheers,
Chris

Nicley crafted portrait. I will look forward to seeing some more when they are in their full glory.

a very well taken portrait Karen, great pose, background and perch. They're not at their most attractive at the moment but this shows their juvenile stage very well.

thanks all, Simon I was in two minds wether or not to delete them, they certainly do not look their best, but then thought why not they are after all a juvenile and thats what they look like, the adults seem to have deserted the garden at the moment ususally loads about, so will be keeping my eyes peeled to try and got some shots of them, am trying for the greenfinches to.

We've got loads of these around at present but at an earlier stage than yours Karen so I haven't pointed the camera at them yet. A month or two's time will be different though. Still a really attractive and clean image :wavey:
