I've concluded the easiest and fastest way for me to get my PC/CS4/Epson 2200 glitches sorted out is to get someone to prepare a custom printer profile.

Anyone here with any experience with them who can recommend someone they liked or someone they'd avoid like the plague?

Michael Gordon does a great job for a price you can't beat.

Custom Printer Profiles

Hi Howard,
Until I started building my own, I used Andrew Rodney, AKA "Digital Dog" who wrote "Color Management for Photographers". I was very pleased with his profiles and actually still use one for my Noritsu printer.

I know there are some members here at NPN that build custom profiles as well, but I've no experience with their work.

Thanks, Floris and Bill. I'll check out Michael Gordon.

Neil, after checking out Andrew Rodney, I decided he was, at $100 a pop, too rich for my budget. After a half-dozen different paper types, it would be cheaper to get a new printer. Thanks, anyway.

We provide printer profiles at Chromix. Like Andrew Rodney's they are more expensive ($99), but they are 100% guaranteed, and come with full phone or email tech support, so it's sort of like you get a technical consultant to ask all the questions you want, if you need that.

But then we also have a new service, where we offer an unlimited number of profiles (for 18 months) for a set price of $ 179.00. It's called ColorValet Pro and it's designed for people with a lot of paper types.

I have used Chromix and have been very pleased. I only use one type of paper so the expense wasn't a big deal, plus I think I bought it before Michael started offering his profiles to the public. Pat Herold with Chromix was a big help with installing it properly too and answered all my questions promptly and professionally.
